Dominoes: instructions and practice

Make Dominoes your next activity in the game library. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.

Take a closer look while playing

When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round. Notice the feedback after each input.

The challenge in front of you

Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

From the start of a round

  1. Play a tile matching either open chain end.
  2. Choose which end to use.
  3. Draw only when no tile fits.
  4. Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

See how the rules apply

An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Consider the next action carefully.

Keep this in mind

You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. Check the rule before repeating the action. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
